What is said in the Muslim Prayer? . . . Give Meaning to your Salaat!

ADHAN
Allaahu Akbar (4x) - Allah is the Greatest (4x) (Iqama - 2x)
Ashhadu Allah ilaaha illa-Lah (2x) - I bear witness that there is
none worthy of worship except Allah (2x) (Iqama - 1x)
Ash Hadu anna Muhamadar rasuulullah (2x) - I bear witness that
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah (2x) (Iqama - 1x)
Hayya' alas Salaah (2x) - Come to prayer (2x) (Iqama - 1x)
Hayya' ala Falaah (2x) - Come to felicity (2x) (Iqama - 1x)
[Fajr Adhan only] A-Salaatu Khayrun Mina-Naum (2x) - Prayer is
better than sleep (2x)
[Iqama only - not recited in Adhan] Qad qaamitis Salaah (2x) -
Our prayers are now ready (2x)
Allaahu Akbar (2x) - Allah is the Greatest (2x) (Iqama - 2x)
Laa ilaaha illa-Lah -There is none worthy of worship except Allah

SALAAT

Allahu Akbar - Allah is the Greatest

Subhaana kalla humma wa bihamdika, wa tabaara
kasmuka, wa ta'aalaa jadduka, wa laa ilaaha ghairuk
Praise and glory be to You, O’ Allah. Blessed be Your Name,
exalted be Your Majesty and Glory. There is no God but You

A'uudhu billaahi minash shaitaan ar-Rajeem
I seek Allah's shelter from Satan, the condemned

Bismillaah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most
Merciful

Al hamdu lillaahi rabbil 'alameen. Ar-Rahman
ar-Raheem. Maaliki yaumid Deen. Iyyaaka na'abudu wa iy
yaaka nasta'een. Ihdinas siraatal mustaqeem, Siraatal
ladheena an 'amta' alaihim, Ghairil maghduubi' alaihim
waladaaleen. Aameen
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Universe, the Most
Compassionate, the Most Merciful! Master of the Day
for Judgment! You alone do we worship and You alone
do we call on for help. Guide us along the Straight Path, The
path of those whom You have favored, Not the path of those
who earned Your anger, nor of those who went astray. Ameen
**Recitation of additional verses of the Holy Qur'an**

(While bending:) Allahu Akbar - Allah is the Greatest

(While bent:) Subhanna rabbiyal 'Azeem (3x)
Glorified is my Lord, the Great

(While rising:) Sami' allaahu liman hamidah
Allah has heard the one who praised Him

(Response from congregation:) Rabbanaa wa lakal hamd
O’ Our Lord, all the praise is for You only

(While in sujood): Subhaana rabbiyal 'Alaa (3x)
Glorified is my Lord, the Exalted

(While sitting between sujood): Rabbighfirli (2x)
O’ my Lord, forgive me

At Tahiyyaatu lilaahi was Salawaatu wat tayibaatu
As Salaamu 'alaika ayyuhan nabiyyu wa rahmatul
laahi wa barakaatuh As Salaamu 'alainaa wa 'alaa
'ebaadillaahis saaliheen
All our oral, physical and monetary ways of worship are only
for Allah. Peace, Mercy and Blessing of Allah be on you, O’
Prophet. May peace be upon us and on the devout servants of
Allah
(Hands on knees, raise right forefinger): Ash hadu
allaa ilaah ilallaah Wa ash hadu anna Muhammadan
'abduhuu wa rasuuluh
I testify that there is no God but Allah and I testify that
Muhammad is His servant and messenger

Allaahumma salli 'alaa Muhammadin wa 'alaa ali
Muhammadin Kamaa sallaita 'alaa Ibraaheema wa 'alaa
ali Ibraaheema Innaka Hameedun Majeed
O’ Allah, send Your Mercy on Muhammad and his
posterity as you sent Your Mercy on Abraham and his
posterity. You are the Most Praised, the Most Glorious

Alaahumma baarik 'ala Muhammadin wa 'alaa ali
Muhammadin Kamaa baarakta 'alaa Ibraaheema
wa 'alaa ali Ibraaheema Innaka Hameedun Majeed
O’ Allah, send Your Blessings on Muhammad and his
posterity as you sent Your Blessings on Abraham and his
posterity. You are the Most Praised, the Most Glorious

Rabbi ijAAalnee muqeema alssalati wamin thurriyyatee
O’ my Lord! make me one who establishes regular Prayer,
and also (raise such) among my offspring
Rabbana wtaqabbal duAAai
O’ our Lord! and accept Thou my Prayer

Rabbana ighfir lee waliwalidayya walilmumineena yawma
yaqoomu alhisabu
O’ our Lord! cover (us) with Thy Forgiveness - me,
my parents, and (all) Believers, on the Day that the Reckoning
will be established

Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil 'akhirati
hasanatan waqina 'adhaban-nar
O’ our Lord, Grant us the good in this World and that of
the Hereafter and save us from the torture of Hell

Other supplications from the Quran may be recited here: e.g.
Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhuriyyatina qurrata
A'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqina imama
Our Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the
comfort of our eyes and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous

Rabbana atina min ladunka rahmatan wa hayyi' lana min
amrina rashada - Our Lord! give us mercy from Thy
presence, and shape for us right conduct in our plight

Fatira alssamawati waalardi anta waliyyee fee alddunya
waalakhirati tawaffanee musliman waalhiqnee bialssaliheena
- O’ Thou Creator of the heavens and the earth! Thou
art my Protector in this world and in the Hereafter Take thou
my soul (at death) as one submitting to Thy Will (as a Muslim),
and unite me with the righteous

Alaahumma inni A'uudhu bika min Adhab il qabr, wa-min
Adhabi-Jahanam, wa-min fitnatil mahya wal mamati,
wa-min sharra’ fitnatil Maseehid Dajjal
O’ Allah, I take refuge in You from the punishment of the
grave, from the torment of the Fire, from the trials and
tribulations of life and death and from the evil affliction of
the Al-Maseeh Ad-Dajjaal

As Salaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullaah (2x - first to right &
then to left) - Peace and Mercy of Allah be on you
